About Me
My name is Brian McElroy. I'm an aspiring writer with a vast love of language and prose. This website is my first attempt at writing publicly and attempting to get myself out there in the world of literature.
What you will find here - Writing samples that I've been working on and excerpts from what I would consider something worth publishing one day. You will also find appreciation posts for the writing of others. This can include anything from excerpts from essays, novels, poetry or songs. Any pieces of language that cause the mind and body to pause for a moment and appreciate it. Reviews of books or anything reading/writing related may also come into play.
The Short Story section is a listing of my writing that I've set up here for reading and commentary. Advice and opinion is always appreciated so long as it can be done constructively.
The name of this website comes from a quote from E.B. (Andy) White. "Always be on the look out for the presence of wonder." White, being one of my favorite authors as a child and again when I discovered his essays and writings for the New Yorker as an adult, gets his fair amount of fame from Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little and such titles but I believe he truly shines when reading his essays and works such as One Man's Meat.
It is in respect for his writing and love of language that this website will go forward trying to find the presence of wonder in the written word and beyond.
Thank you for visiting.
